Veedersburg, Ind. (CNS)- Rites for Veedersburg's fire chief Virgil Jenks, 41, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Methodist Church. Mr. Jenks died Saturday morning in Danville' St. Elizabeth Hospital from injuries received in a recent automobile accident. The Rev. Don Weaver will officiate, assisted by the Rev. J.S. Pritchard, and burial will be in the Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington. The fire chief never regained consciousness following an injury here last Tuesday in Hub Park. He and Jerry Harold were returning from escort duty to the body of a Veedersburg Navy airman killed in a training flight at Corpus Christi, Tex., when the accident occurred. Harold said his car skidded on wet pavement in the park and crashed into trees, throwing Jenks out. Harold received minor cuts and a sprained ankle. Jenks suffered a fractured skull. Jenks also was Civil Defense director for Fountain County, a past American Legion post commander and operated a body shop in nearby Sterling. The J Fred Parham Funeral service has charge of arrangements
